"Somewhere In Sicily"

December 23, 2004

Barrie, Ontario, Canada

These letters I have are part of a collection that consists of over 400 letters, 2000 photos and negatives from a man who was from Weehawken, New Jersey who took part in World War II. This collection documents his experiences from boot camp to living in England and his war experiences from the invasion of Sicily, through France, Belgium and finally into Germany at the end of the war.

He was stationed with the 415th Night Fighter Squadron. This was the first night fighting squadron of the US airforce. It also has the distinction of being the first squadron to see and document UFO sightings. The 415th also coined the term "Foo-Fighters" when referring to these UFO's.
