Discipline

Discipline

December 20, 2004

Northern Ontario, Canada

The male and female leaders of the pack (alpha pair) discipline the lower ranking family members when feeding on a kill (in this case a beaver). The alphas and their pups eat first. The alphas bristle their neck hairs in a show of force along with biting, while the submissive wolves curl their tails under themselves and keep their bodies lower to the ground than the leaders out of respect.

This photo was taken a few years back with a Canon "elan 7e" film camera. I miss having the eye control focusing mechanism.
