Photojournalism can be a pretty rough sport. I took a puck in the eye during an OHL playoff game between the Barrie Colts and the Peterborough Petes on April 26th. I was down by the Colts team bench where there was no pesky protective glass between myself and the action. One of Peterborough's defencemen tried to shoot the puck off the boards in an attempt to get the puck up to his forwards....unfortunately he missed the boards and hit me right in the eye. I was very lucky not to have been blinded.
I took this photo tonight (four days after the game). The swelling has gone down, but look at the beautiful shade of purple that it has now become. This is the first black eye that I've ever had.
