Erie Beach Amusement Park (1885-1930)
This photograph shows some of the concrete footings that supported the rails of a rollercoaster that was built shortly after the turn of the 20th century.
This historical old park will be completely levelled to make way for a new subdivision very soon.
Brief History:
- The fairgrounds were built in 1901 and had a 4,000 foot boardwalk with a casino that was built in 1911.
- There was an outdoor swimming pool was the largest in the world at that time, a large stadium and a zoo with exotic animals, bears and wolves.
- The park was closed in 1930 and the scrap metal was used in WWII.
